More Information

If you you've been exposed to asbestos and have any of these symptoms , contact your doctor or a specialist or an expert in asbestos related disease. The physician will ask what kind of jobs you've worked on in the past and for how long. He may do testing to determine if any problems are developing or may already exist.

  • Shortness of breath
  • Coughing
  • Increased sputum
  • Weight loss
  • Chest pain
  • Hoarseness
  • Coughing up blood

The symptoms of asbestos related lung disease may take decades to surface. Although you may feel normal, don't make the mistake of thinking that you don't need to take precautions. When symptoms do appear the disease may have already grown to other parts of the body. If you have asbestosis, mesothelioma or lung cancer, you may not be aware of the symptoms for years! Prevention is the only cure.
