Asbestos Information

More Information

The many dangers associated with asbestos exposure make it important for everyone to educate themselves about the product itself. Where can it be found, and how it can affect you are important questions that should be addressed. Prevention is the single most important way to protect yourself from the affects of asbestos exposure. Many workers and their families were unnecessarily exposed to threatening levels of asbestos because health hazard information was not provided to them. Had they been notified of the risks and precautions necessary, and been able to protect themselves, many lives may have been saved.

Asbestos and vermiculite mining has dramatically declined in North America, but many other countries are still manufacturing asbestos products, and in some cases have very little guidlines outlining safe handling of asbestos products. Our local and national government has set and is still organizing regulations that help companies, employees, schools, and homeowners to educate, prevent, and handle asbestos related issues.

Asbestos related products and building materials that are currently in buildings, homes, and schools should in most cases remain where originally installed. If in good condition these products can be kept in place. If these products show signs of wear, or damage it is highly important to take the right precautions in maintenance or removal. To address asbestos related problems it is important to consider hiring a professional trained in asbestos removal, and safety.
